Library Information

The Diabetic Association Medical College E-Library serves as an integral hub for medical education and research. Since 2018, our library has operated as a fully automated facility utilizing the SLiMS Library Management System, ensuring streamlined access to a vast repository of medical knowledge.

To be a premier hub for the latest IT-based  medical informatics and a cornerstone of evidence-based healthcare education in Bangladesh.

Mission

To provide high-quality medical literature, digital resources and a conducive environment that supports the MBBS curriculum, clinical research and lifelong learning for medical students and faculty.

Library Resources

Print Resources : Textbooks, Reference books, Local & International Journals, Bengali Fictions & History Books of Bangladesh.

Digital Resources : E-books, E-journals, Medline (PubMed), Research4life (HINARI), BanglaJol and DOAJ etc

Infrastructure

Location : 10th floor, Building No. 2.          Space : 6400 sq. ft.

Seating Capacity : 246 (Silent Study Corner 167, Group Study Corner 49, Faculty Study Corner 26, E-Resource Center 4).

Sections : Circulation Section, Cataloging Section, Silent Study Corner, Group Study Corner, Faculty Study Corner, Baggage Counter, Liberation War Corner, Book Shelves, Journal Shelves, Dictionary Corner, Fiction Book Corner, Male-Female Separate Wash Room, Female Prayer Room, Pure Drinking water Corner & Librarian Office.

Working Hour

Saturday – Thursday : 08:00 AM to 09:00 PM

Friday & National Holidays : Closed

Library Services

  • Automated online library management system (SLiMS ILS).
  • Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC) for easy catalog searching.
  • Online circulation (borrowing, returning & renewal).
  • Users shelf check loan status via ID and Password.
  • Free Wi-Fi and computer facilities.
  • Access to E-Library, E-Books and E-Journals.
  • Reference and research assistance.
  • Study Corner (Silent, Group, Faculty, E-Resource).
  • Current Awareness Service (CAS) and Selective Dissemination of Information (SDI).

Library Membership

Full Access : Registered MBBS students, Faculty, and administrative staff

Reading Access Only : Registrars, Assistant Registrars, Medical Officers, and Intern Doctors of DAMCH Hospital.

External Users : Requires written permission from the Principal.

Circulation Policy

1. Students may borrow up to 3 books for a period of 30 days, with the option to renew once, if the item is available.

 2.  Faculty members may borrow up to 4 books for a period of 60 days, with the option to renew twice, if the item is available.

3. Senior Faculty members may borrow up to 5 books for a period of 75 days, with the option to renew twice, if the item is available.

4. Reference materials and journals are for in-library use only.

Library Rules & Conduct

  • Valid Smart (MR) ID Card required for entry & book transactions.
  • Silence must be maintained (Silent Zone).
  • Group study area allows “library voice” only.
  • Computers strictly for academic use.
  • Phones on silent; no calls inside.
  • No smoking, food, or drinks (except water).
  • No sleeping, seat reservation (>30 mins), or political activities.
  • Bags at baggage counter (library not liable for valuables).
  • Handle books carefully; report damage immediately.
  • Do not re-shelf books; leave on table or hand to staff.
  • Late returns are fined BDT. 5 per book per day. 
  • Lost or damaged books must be replaced with an exact copy or paid for at 2× the market value.
  • Any photography in library requires Principal’s written approval.
  • Disruptive actions or failure to follow staff directions may result in:

1. Verbal warnings  2. Suspension of membership & library access 

3. College disciplinary action.

  • The college emphasizes mutual respect to ensure a supportive environment for study and research without interference.
